“Let beautiful luxury products change your daily routines into moments of indulgence”. With this simple idea in mind, Rituals developed its first cosmetics line based on Eastern rituals and ingredients, some 15 years ago. The concept evolved from this first line into the comprehensive collection of unique luxury products, ranging from body- and facial care to fashion, candles, perfumes and tea.
Today, Rituals operates 600+ own stores across the globe (in 24 countries). Consumers can also buy the products via the webshop or the platforms of selected pure players and in almost 1800 shops-in-shops, mostly in department stores. But you will also find Rituals in approx. 25.000 hotel rooms and even in airplanes. The company’s turnover grows at a very high rate, often over 30% per annum.
From its headquarters in the heart of Amsterdam, a strong team of dedicated professionals leads and/or supports the various lines of business in achieving profitable growth.
Rituals is led by its founder and CEO Raymond Cloosterman, together with Chief Operations Officer Arjen Schouten and Chief Financial Officer Jenny de Vries. The Management Team further consists of the functional leaders (Director Wholesale, Accounting Director, Director Sourcing & Innovation, Director Supply Chain, HR Director , Director CTO, Director Marketing and Digital Director).
The COO heads Rituals’ global commercial operations and development, with a focus on retail; the company’s premier line of business. He leads the Country Directors for Benelux, DACH, Nordics, UK, France, USA and Iberica, as well as 4 activity clusters: Retail Operations, Mature Markets, New Markets and Real Estate & Expansion. One of the Mature Markets is originating market Benelux.
The core activity of each country organisation, including Benelux, is retail. The Heads of Retail for Belgium and for The Netherlands respectively report into the Country Director Benelux. Together they lead approx. 1.000 staff divided over 160 stores in a traditional area organisation. Like all Mature Markets within Rituals, Benelux is part of a matrix. Besides the direct reporting line for retail and a small B2B unit, the Country Director has dotted line reports within her team for Wholesale, HR, Training, Marketing and projects. This adds another 40 staff to the total headcount.
Being Rituals’ home market, The Netherlands occupies a special position within the company. To this day it still represents one of the largest market for the firm and traditionally, when it comes to innovations or pilot projects, Benelux is the first place where ideas are turned into reality.
Rituals cosmetics is growing fast. And although further growth will be even more spectacular in emerging markets, the Dutch market is expected to grow significantly over the years to come. In the past, Rituals has always been able to partly rely on new openings for the realisation of growth. But the Netherlands constitute the most developed market for Rituals and expansion is no longer considered a very important driver for its further development. The challenge is now to deliver incremental sales figures for each of the existing stores.
HEAD OF RETAIL THE NETHERLANDS…
The purpose of the job is to maintain and develop the service within the Rituals company stores in order to achieve the defined goals on financial and operational management. Besides mentoring the area and shop managers, this means taking new initiatives to achieve the ambitious turnover and margin plans.
The Head of Retail The Netherlands reports to the Country Director Benelux and is and integral member of the Retail team. He leads and mentors the Area/Shop Managers and Retail Coordinators. To secure effective operations and growth, the Head of Retail seeks co-operation with a variety of disciplines within the company, such as the Real Estate Manager for new locations, the Supply Chain team to inform them of all the correct information, or Format, Design and Marcom with regards to the image of the Rituals stores.
To achieve the desired goals the Head of Retail will need to coach, motivate and inspire the Area Managers and co-ordinators, and through them the store personnel. But his job doesn’t end there. Development and implementation of account plans for Rituals company shops (personnel and yield plan), the set-up and achievement of new performance indicators, the implementation of the principles of the Rituals Academy and the continuous and proactive eye for change and improvements are vital for boosting the performance of the shops and their turnover in this mature market.
In order to be successful we seek a well educated, ambitious professional with experience in initiating change and improving performance. Candidates will need to have proven skills on leading, inspiring and coaching groups of people, decision-making and problem solving and have strong analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills (also in English); It’s retail, so candidates can work under pressure, have eye for detail and aim for ambitious results.
