Purpose of the position

The main purpose of the role is to expand and manage the share of the Dutch market in projects, OEM and MRO industrial customers and prospects, with full commercial P&L responsibility. The Commercial Director leads the commercial functions in the matrix organization and takes ownership for the development and implementation of ERIKS’ mid and long term business strategy in The Netherlands.

The Commercial Director is a member of the management team of ERIKS NL.

Scope of the position, responsibilities and mandate
Working closely with the division directors, the Commercial Director ensures an optimum in share of wallet profitable sales using the different sales channels. Formulates the mid and long term strategy, policy, (business)plan and guidelines and controls development of the general sales activities. The Commercial Director manages various domains such as Sales (outside & inside), Marketing and Sales Support. All in line with the organization strategy, in order to ensure the realization of strategic P&L objectives and contribute to the performance and competitive position of ERIKS. As a people leader the Commercial Director engages, coaches, manages and leads ensuring performance of people at all levels.

He/she manages his/her teams and people effectively, through development, coaching and where appropriate, discipline. The Commercial Director ensures an appropriate pricing strategy is developed and consistently applied in accordance with company objectives. She or he leads and delivers strategic commercial projects leading to growth of revenue and profit and optimal processes in sales and marketing. The Commercial Director translates strategy into workable plans and solutions which can be communicated to and owned by people at all levels.

The Commercial Director leads the commercial functions in the development and implementation of the long and short term business strategy. The costs for the assigned area of control are forecasted and managed and aligned with the needs of the business and ERIKS’ resources.

External client satisfaction and sustainable client relations is key. Therefore managing strategic client and customer relationships, typically utilizing large account and business teams, is an important part of the role. Using the matrix organization in its full optimum, the most demanding strategic clients, are served well. Therefore he/she demonstrates ownership and takes the lead in complex and demanding commercial cases.

Business development and profitable sales in different segments of the Dutch industry is also key; therefore close corporation with the business units is a prerequisite and the Commercial Director is the driving force behind this cooperation. New business models for (technical) services will be developed and as such the Commercial Director comes with new ideas and takes ownership to add these to the portfolio of ERIKS NL.

Through effective leadership and a strong commercial drive, people are positively stimulated and motivated to go the extra mile. He /she is able to work as a positive catalysator in strengthening the existing relations, outside – in and inside – out. With a continuous drive to develop the skills in the organization and close attention for the success factors; processes and people are developed and work in the most effective way. Candidate profile

More than 10 years commercial experience in an (industrial) environment (end-to-end business), with experience in the Dutch industrial market

Degree in Business or Science; MBA an asset

Previous line management experience

Meets the competencies related to the SHV leadership profile; a confident, transparent and inspirational facilitating-leadership style

Experience managing large teams within the Sales, Marketing and Customer Service function over different geographical locations

Ability to manage by objectives and meet challenging targets within tight deadlines

Competent influencer up to and including board level

Strategic yet hands-on approach, street-smart

Experience working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment with relevant domain and hosting industry experience and knowledge

A self-starter, comfortable working at pace with significant amounts of autonomy.
